SANDING LINE SHAFT WEAR
Diagnosed issue
In May 2026, Sonora detected harmonic activity around 70 Hz on a sanding line motor, indicating possible wear or imbalance related to shaft-mounted tooling. Based on the vibration patterns, a recommendation was made to inspect the tools and shaft assembly during the upcoming maintenance period.
After maintenance and machine restart, Sonora observed that RMS values and harmonic activity had returned to normal operating levels. IKEA later confirmed that the shaft of the wide sanding belt system had been replaced during maintenance and stated that the alert had been useful.
Savings
Early detection enabled maintenance teams to address the issue during planned maintenance instead of reacting to an unexpected failure. Sonora helped identify the developing problem in advance and confirmed successful stabilization of the machine after the shaft replacement.
