DRYER FAN MOTOR FAULT
Diagnosed issue
In July 2026, Sonora detected new harmonics and increasing RMS on a dryer process fan, initially indicating bearing wear. DOLOOP confirmed that the bearings had recently been replaced, while abnormal vibration persisted.
After confirming the presence of an impeller, Sonora reassessed the data and identified possible fan imbalance. RMS remained elevated before increasing again together with harmonics in August.
DOLOOP sent the blower for assessment and replaced its motor. Inspection revealed ceramic fragments from damaged components, which had caused further stator damage.
Results
Continuous monitoring showed that abnormal vibration persisted despite the recent bearing replacement. Sonora tracked the developing fault as the vibration signature evolved, identifying renewed growth in RMS and harmonics and supporting further mechanical investigation. The blower motor was replaced, and inspection confirmed significant internal motor damage.
