AMMONIA COMPRESSOR FAULT
Diagnosed issue
During condition monitoring of the compressor motor, indicators of a potential bearing-related issue were detected on the same day the sensors were installed. After collecting only a few initial samples, the anomaly was already evident, and Kekava was immediately informed. Based on the observed changes, a recommendation was made to inspect the bearing cage for any visible wear.
Upon inspection, it was confirmed that while the bearing itself was not critically damaged, the bearing housing cover (lid) was damaged.
To prevent further deterioration and potential secondary damage, the bearing was replaced with a new one.
Results
Early identification of the issue enabled timely maintenance before the bearing reached a critical failure stage. The intervention helped avoid unexpected motor failure, ensured continued reliable operation of the compressor, and minimized the risk of unplanned downtime.
